Top 4 Diet Picks That Match Our Menu Items

Here at Chevys, we pride ourselves on creating Fresh Mex dishes that are not only delicious but also work with your diet. Our team of talented cooks is more than happy to adjust any menu items to match your diet or allergy-based needs. Here are a few examples of how you can alter our Fresh Mex menu items to match your diet.

1. The Vegan Diet

The vegan diet excludes meat, eggs, and dairy products. Anything that is animal-derived is a no-go. So, how can you adjust your favorite Fresh Mex dishes to suit the vegan diet? Try our Seasonal Veggies Fajitas! Made with mesquite-grilled portobello mushrooms instead of meat, this dish is perfect for our vegan friends. We also have vegetarian options too.

2. The Paleo Diet

The Paleo diet is popular amongst those looking to eat more whole foods to help reduce inflammation in the digestive system. Some foods to avoid include dairy, anything processed or refined, and many legumes (grains, nuts, and beans).

How can Fresh Mex fit into the Paleo diet? Instead of corn or flour tortillas for your favorite tacos, why not opt for a lettuce wrap? Simply ask for a mixed green salad instead of our rice or beans on the side.

3. The Keto Diet

The ketogenic diet (keto for short) consists of a low-carb and high fat diet. The theory behind this plan is that by reducing your carb intake and replacing it with high fats, the body enters into a metabolic state of ketosis. This is believed to help your body burn fat in order to produce energy – not store it for later.

A great way to alter your favorite Fresh Mex dishes to suit the Keto diet is to order our Sante Fe Chopped Salad without the corn salsa (aka carbs). Then, the protein and healthy fat in the grilled chicken breast and fresh avocado make this the perfect carb-free keto entree!

4. The DASH Diet

The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) plan is designed to help lower and control high blood pressure. Typically, this diet emphasizes low sodium foods, as well as foods that are rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium. It also encourages fresh fruits and vegetables, along with whole grains, fish, and poultry.

A great menu item to match your diet would be our Sizzling Fajita Salad. This delicious entree is filled with healthy additions like chilled romaine, San Antonio veggies, pepita seeds, and fresh avocado. Some alterations to consider include asking for the vinaigrette on the side without the cotija and jack cheese.
